Shorsh Mach
Fish in Mustard Sauce

Fish Fillets 900 gms
Chilli Powder 1¼ tsp
Turmeric Powder 1¼ tsp
Salt to taste
Lemon Juice 2 tsp
Vegetable Oil 1 tblspn
Chopped Onions 200 gms
Vegetable Oil 2 tblspn
Garlic Paste 2 tsp
Crushed Mustard Seeds 1 tsp
Tomatoes Chopped 225 gms
Ajwain 1 tsp
Coriander Powder 1 tsp
Cumin Powder 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder 1¼ tsp
Chilli Powder 1¼ tsp
Green Chillies 5 nos.
Fresh Corinader 3 tblspan
Salt To Taste
Yogurt 120 ml

- Preheat the Oven to 350 F.
- Make a powder of the mustard seeds and soak in water enough to make a paste.
- Cut the fish into strips of 2 inches wide.
- Roll on all sides the mixture of chilli pdr, turmeric pdr,salt and lemon juice.
- In a non stick frying pan, heat 1 tblspn of vegetable oil and brown the fish on all sides. Remove the fish and set aside.
- In the same pan, heat 2 tblsdpn of oil and add the ajwain and the slit green chillies.
- Add the onions in until light brown add the garlic and stir for about 2 minutes.
- Add the tomatoes and the spice mixture and cook till the tomatoes become very soft.
- Add the cilantro and salt and continue cooking till the tomato mixture becomes a paste.
- Add 2 cups of water and boil. Add the mustard seeds paste.
- Remove from the heat, add the yogurt and stir to blend.
- Arrange the fish in a single layr in the baking dish.
- Pour the sauce over it and cover with the aluminium foil.
- Bake for about 20 minutes.
- Fish is very pungent and hot beacuse of Mustard.Adjust the quantity of Mustard as per your taste
Serve with Boiled Rice
